Oakwoods Metropark - 12 May 2008

Cloudy and cool this afternoon with a slight drizzle. I took a run out to Oakwoods Metropark in Wayne Co. this afternoon between 3:30 - 5:00 pm to see if any unusual sparrows could be found. Driving slowly into the park I could hear the usual Warbling Vireos, Eastern Meadowlarks, Common Yellowthroats, Eastern Bluebirds, and Eastern Kingbirds. Birds were a bit hard to find from the car, but I managed a decent photo of a Kingbird, a Red-winged Blackbird, and a Common Grackle. I did hear numerous Field Sparrows, a few Song Sparrows, but nothing else. Tree and Barn Swallows were flying about, but it was too dark to get any decent flight shots.
