2 New Yard Birds! - 16 May 2009

Woke up at 6:30 am and heard a Gray Catbird singing just outside the back room window. It's 'meow' call was constant for several minutes before stopping. About an hour later I was digiscoping Pine Siskins at the thistle feeder when I heard the "please-please-please-to-meetcha" of a Chestnut-sided Warbler in the trees just behind the garage. So as not to spook the siskins, I walked around the block to the alley and found a single bird feeding and singing in a large Sugar Maple. It was too dark to photograph, however.

The Catbird was found Sunday morning (17th) kicking around next to the driveway, and I managed a few digiscoped images through the window. Since I was unable to get out to bird this weekend these birds made for a nice consolation.
