Killdeer - 08 May 1987
08May1987 BASF Club
1200 hrs. Stopped by the ball field to photograph a nesting Killdeer.
Her nest was located in the middle of the parking lot, perfectly camouflaged by gravel and stones. She sat perfectly still on her nest,
Even as I approached to within a few feet. She would then rise up
chattering. As I approached closer still, she would then flare her tail and spread her wings. Even closer still (2 feet), she then ran off and put on a fantastic broken-wing act, flopping around and beating her wings wildly.
