Holiday Beach Hawk Watch - 20 Sep 1987

0900 hrs. Arrived at the park to watch the annual hawk migration. Weather was mostly cloudy, cool, 60F. A hint of rain is in the air.
Observed approximately 800 Sharp-shinned Hawks flying west over the lake, about 1500-2000 Blue Jays, 100 or so American Kestrels, 15 or so Osprey, 1 Rough-legged Hawk, 1000 Broad-winged Hawks flying in kettles out over the horizon, as well as numerous Chimney Swifts, American Goldfinches, Double-crested Cormorants, and Northern Harriers.
Observed approximately 800 Sharp-shinned Hawks flying west over the lake, about 1500-2000 Blue Jays, 100 or so American Kestrels, 15 or so Osprey, 1 Rough-legged Hawk, 1000 Broad-winged Hawks flying in kettles out over the horizon, as well as numerous Chimney Swifts, American Goldfinches, Double-crested Cormorants, and Northern Harriers.
