Red-necked Grebe - 08 Feb 2004

08 February 2004 Detroit River, Wyandotte

The RED-NECKED GREBE was observed again, today, on the Detroit River at 2:30pm behind the Pier 500 Restaurant and Wyandotte Boat Ramp on Biddle Ave. in Wyandotte (just south of the Ecorse Rowing Club).

I managed to get a couple of digiscoped photos of the bird before it
floated out of sight. It appears to be a 1st year bird based on the
overall ashy color of the throat and neck and generally light-brown colored eyes.

Also seen were Canvasbacks and Redhead.
