Semipalmated Sandpipers - 19 Sep 2004

 


A pair of juvenile Semipalmated Sandpipers at the Gibraltar Landfill ponds were a nice find this evening. Digiscoped the pair. Note the short black bill and fresh brown-and-black feathers on back and wings. Black legs are clean. 


A Dunlin was also find nearby.

Semipalmated Sandpiper (Calidris pusilla)  2     Two juveniles in shallow ponds of landfill property. Digiscoped images show short black stubby bills, fresh brown-black feathers (no orange/red seen in Least Sandpiper juveniles), clean black legs (no mud). Pics.
