Crosswinds Marsh and LEMP - 12 Dec 2004

12 December 2004 Crosswinds Marsh / LEMP, Wayne Co.

11:30 Hrs.  Robin and I drove out to CWM after the snow stopped falling this morning (~0.5-1”).  Skies were heavy gray and windy w/ temps in the low 30’s.

We walked the Bald Eagle Trail and saw very little.  A few Canada Geese and Mute Swans on the lake but no sign of the previously reported Northern Shrike or Cackling Geese.  We did see a pair of Golden-crowned Kinglets.  A couple pics w/ the D70 and Sigma 400mm f/5.6:

13:00 Hrs.  We then drove over to Lake Erie Metropark to look for ducks and swans on the lake.  We passed several small flocks of American Tree Sparrows and one Red-tailed Hawk.  The lake was still open and there were several hundred Tundra Swans and a few Mallards.  I managed a few flight shots of the swans

and a couple long-distance pics of the Red-tailed Hawk.
