23 January 2005 Ecorse Park

1200 Hrs. After last night's snow I drove down to Ecorse Park to check on the river. Clear skies and cold temps greeted me. A Bald Eagle was perched in the trees at Mud Island.

Next to shore several Common Goldeneye were swimming

while farther out in the river a small raft of Common Mergansers were working their way downstream.

Some Lesser Scaup were swimming along the edge of the ice on the south side of Mud Island.

A single female Red-breasted Merganser.
