UM-Dearborn Hilites - 01 May 2005

01 May 2005 UM-Dearborn, Wayne Co.

I took a walk through the natural area this morning between 7:30 - 8:30 am.  Things were very quiet with few birds heard and fewer seen.  I did have the following, though:

Veery - north end of lake
Red-bellied Woodpecker
Downy Woodpecker
Belted Kingfisher
Black-crowned Night Heron - west side of lake
Great Blue Heron - roosting w/ BCNH
Double-crested Cormorant - Rouge River
House Wren
Carolina Wren - Rose Garden
(2) White-throated Sparrow
(2) Chipping Sparrow

Thought I heard a Blue-winged Warbler but I believe it was a European Starling.

Virginia Bluebells, Red Trillium, White Trillium, and Marsh Marigolds in bloom.
