Not a 'Lick" - 24 Apr 2006

I spent about 1.5 hours this evening (between 6-7:30pm) at Oakwoods Metropark looking/listening for the HENSLOW'S SPARROW reported by Neil Gilbert this past weekend.  Didn't hear a 'Lick' (literally).

I did hear a BOBOLINK in the field just west of the RR Tracks.

Saw lots of Eastern Meadowlarks (one did a very nice impression of a RS-Towhee 'zriii')

Six pair of Eastern Bluebirds

A single Savannah Sparrow that I tried very hard to turn into a HESP (didn't work).

Pair of Field Sparrows

Several RW-Blackbirds,

One Ring-necked Pheasant

No Warbling Vireos

Allen Chartier posted some beautiful images of the Henslow’s Sparrow the next day…
