After a frustrating weekend of ‘not’ birding up north – we had gone to Indian River (no Snowy Owl), Cheboygan State Park (no Great Gray Owl), Traverse City (no Snowy Owl), Elk Rapids (no Purple Sandpipers), Arcadia (no Purple Sandpiper), no Hawks anywhere north of Mt. Pleasant – we were rewarded with a pair of Golden Eagles soaring over Eureka Rd just west of Dix-Toledo. I was able to make out white wing patches and a hint of red on one bird. Several were reported this same day out in Jackson and Milan.
