Remembering 2007! - 31 Dec 2007


Happy New Year 2008! As 2007 comes to an end it is a time to stop and reflect on all the blessings and highlights of a great birding year!

January: - Finishing 7th in an international digiscoping contest (Swarovski); 


New digiscoping camera (Fujifilm F30); Snowy Owl in Allen Park! Red-shouldered Hawk in Lakeland, FL.

February: - Bitterly cold days and ducks on the Detroit River; a week in Manheim, Germany (work and birding the Nekkar River valley).

March: - 81F on March 27th! A week in Lakeland, FL; ducks returning to Pt. Mouillee;

April: - My blog debuts on the 14th! Shorebirds return to Pt. Mouillee; Digiscoping seminars at Whitefish Point Observatory; Robin and I adopt an Owl (“Lucky”).

May: - Horned Grebe in Allen Park; Cattle Egret at Pt. Moo;

June: - Glossy and White Ibis at Pt. Mouillee; a week birding at Pawnee National Grasslands in Colorado; new digiscoping camera (Nikon Coolpix P5000); digiscoping a Virginia Rail at Pt. Mouillee; photo of the week in Birder's World Magazine!


July: - Finally getting an American Avocet at Pt. Mouillee; the superb shorebird habitat at Pt. Moo after the treatment of phragmites in Vermet, Lead and Bloody Run Units; nesting Ospreys up in Antrim Co.;


August: - Purple Martins! NCL Cruise of Alaska’s Inside Passage! Probably my most vivid memory? – hundreds of Surf Scoters flying low over blue-green waters in Glacier Bay!


September: - doing my first book review (Bird: the Definitive Guide);
October: - Thousands of Blue Jays at Pt. Pelee! Birding Keweenaw Peninsula;

November: - NCL cruise of Hawaii! Hawaiian Stilts, Coots, Nene;

December: - A new Nikon D300! Monroe CBC! Pacific Loon! Glaucous Gull!
