Shoot 'em if you got 'em! - 30 Jan 2009

Our Wyandotte thistle feeders continue to see visitors from the north! This morning I counted no less than 12 Common Redpolls and 10 Pine Siskins among the 2 dozen American Goldfinches littering the ground w/ seed. At least one American Tree Sparrow continues to be seen daily among the occasional Dark-eyed Junco, Black-capped Chickadee and Downy Woodpecker. Since I was driving the hybrid Escape it was easy for me to roll down the window and grab a few pics from the driveway. Now if I can only attract a few crossbills.....

Incidentally, a single crab tree in the middle of BASF grounds continues to attract 2 dozen American Robins to its fruit. Its quite the contrast seeing so many birds in an area surrounded by nothing but concrete and buildings.
