Ducks on the River - 04 Jan 2010

Stopped by the Detroit River in Wyandotte this afternoon after work. Although the skies were dark w/ light mist and and haze I was drawn to the vast numbers of Canvasbacks and Redheads here in Wyandotte. A nice drake Wood Duck was hanging around the docks at the foot of St. John's. Although its early January there's still no ice on the river...

At the foot of Southfield a sweeping scan of the river yielded thousands of Canvasback and Redhead in a raft that stretched over a half mile. Despite the ugly skies I took a ton of pics from one end of the river to the other to see if I could create a passable panorama in Photoshop. I was able to take 4-5 photos at a time to make a panorama, and twelve panoramas later, I was almost there. Using Photomerge (in CS4) the computer put all twelve panos into a super-pano!
