Yellow-headed Blackbird - 28 Apr 2010

Found this Yellow-headed Blackbird along the Midde Causeway between Vermet and Lead Units this evening. It flushed with a small flock of Red-winged Blackbirds and landed about 20 feet in a stand of cattails. A nearby RWBB male took offense and drove it off into the Vermet Unit. I couldn't get the scope on it fast enough to digiscope...

Other highlights included a pair of Sandhill Cranes just before the Banana Unit, several calling Sora and Marsh Wrens, Greater Yellowlegs and Spotted Sandiper in the Lautenschager Unit, and a pair of Lesser Yellowlegs in the Vermet Unit. Five Black-crowned Night Herons were seen flying overhead. Forster's Terns courting/mating in Vermet Unit.
