November Dunlin - 12 Nov 2013

Bald Eagle - watercolor filter

I took a quick run down to Pt. Mouillee late yesterday afternoon while skies were still clear. Campau Rd. was quiet except for a lone 1st winter Ring-billed Gull and 3rd winter Herring Gull. A pair of Pied-billed Grebes were far out in the river next to the North Causeway of Pt. Mouillee.  A flock of 36 Dunlin flew over the road as I was pulling into Riverside Park at the mouth of the Huron River in s. Wayne Co.  The birds landed in the large pond just north of Harbin Rd. and foraged among 3 dozen Ring-billed and Bonaparte's Gulls. A 1st year Bald Eagle crossed the river heading north and provided only a long-distance photo.  Roberts Rd. was quiet, but an adult Coyote appeared in the field west of Turnpike Rd. for a few moments before running off for cover.  A single Horned Lark was all that visible on Haggerman Rd.
