Visiting Moths - 06 Jun 2015

Robin and I found a couple of neat moths on the front door of Brownton Abbey this afternoon. The first was a fairly large, bright yellow Automeris io or IO Moth!

The second was much harder to identify, but I managed to find an image of "green patched moths" that led me to ID'ing this fella as a Euclea nanina or Nanina Oak-Slug Moth (Hodges #4697.1)! Slug moths have caterpillars that sting! I'm unsure of its range, but all references point to this moth as being a southern moth???
