Recent Yard Pics - 15 Aug 2015
A juvenile Ruby-throated Hummingbird has been making the rounds. I've been fortunate enough to be standing next to the feeder when it flew in, landing just inches away. This pic was taken a bit farther back using the 300/2.8 VRII + 1.7TCIII + FT1 Adapter + Nikon 1 V = 1377mm Effective Focal Length.
One of the flowers fell off the hummer feeder, leaving an open port large enough for a juvenile Baltimore Oriole to take interest in. The juice on its bill is from the Glossy Buckthorn (invasive) growing along the back of the yard.
I love Mourning Doves. Juveniles are especially pretty.
Northern Cardinal looking a bit ruffled.
