Hawk Watch is Winding Down - 29 Nov 2015

With only 1 day left to the 2015 Detroit River Hawk Watch I decided to make a quick 1-hour trip to Lake Erie Metropark to say thanks and good-bye to Jonathan Stein, our staff Counter.  Between 12 - 1 pm I spent some time with Rosemary Brady, Jonathan, Andrew Sturgess and Patrick Mulawa scanning the skies for raptors. Things were busy with a steady stream of Red-tailed Hawks, several Turkey Vultures, and my highlight: a light-phase Rough-legged Hawk!

BTW, a Golden Eagle was the first bird of the day (which I missed), so my record this year of attending DRHW and missing Golden Eagles = 46!
