Pacific Loon - 30 Apr 2018

I drove over to Lake Erie Metropark this afternoon to try to see the Pacific Loon that was reported last week by Andy Dettling. The bird was reported this morning out from the Cherry Trail bridge just south of the hawk watch and boat launch.

I saw Tom Gass on the way to the bridge, and he had good tidings for me. I reached the bridge and got to say hi to Sue Kuroda and Bruce Smith and Dave Mendus. The Pacific Loon was swimming about 100 yds from shore in choppy water. All I could do was take a 4K video through the scope at 60X with the Sony a6300 and hope to get a decent frame or two out of Photoshop.

Once it tucked its head under its wing we left.
