Skies were overcast today, and birds were not moving during the morning hours. But, near noon they started flying and coming in large waves at the Detroit River Hawk Watch. A decent crowd had gathered at the Boat Launch at Lake Erie Metropark (Brownstown, MI) and were hoping to witness a day similar to last Thursday when 22,000 Broad-winged Hawks passed over the site.
We would do well today with a 10,000+ Broad-winged Hawk day. They were high, but visible against the dark skies. A bonus Ross' Goose would be found later in the afternoon by Caleb Putnam.
