Some Macro Work - 30 Jun 2019

Robin gave a shout from the front porch this morning and alerted me to a beautiful IO Moth perched on the chair. I grabbed the Sony a9 and 90mm f/2.8 GM Macro and headed out to take some pics.

I tried to photograph it while looking down over the chair, but focusing was extremely difficult while hand-holding and bending over. So, I shot continuous (20 fps) while moving focus through the face of the moth. I then focus-stacked approximately 50 images to get this image.

While waiting for the computer to process the images I sat next to my scope and had the opportunity to photograph the tiny Jumping Spider that paid a visit (see top). That was another 20 images focus-stacked.
