Early Wake-Up Call - 27 Oct 2019

The rain started yesterday afternoon and drenching downpours had the sump pump emptying every 2 minutes during the night. The rain would not let up until this morning, but gale-force winds followed for the next several hours. Clouds (and wind) finally broke around 2 pm, and a quick look out the back window revealed a tiny face waking up in the owl box. Our resident Eastern Screech Owl poked its head out and gave a big yawn before a passing Turkey Vulture scared it back into the box. It reappeared early this evening in the waning sun, and is currently surveying the fields at dusk.
