Fox Sparrows - 15 Nov 2019

Monday brought 9" of snow to SE Michigan, and Tuesday brought the Fox Sparrows. A major movement of birds occurred overnight, possibly pushed by the weather, into the region. Reports were coming from all over the State and from Ohio. We had 2 birds here in the yard that took advantage of the only bare patch on the ground and the prospects of sunflower seeds. As of this evening they are still around and taking advantage of the free food. Sadly, I have to photograph them through the window since 2 little kittens are now large enough to investigate any open window that might be around.

Other news in town is a Gyrfalcon that appeared a few days ago at Grace Lake (Vision) and later seen in Superior Twp. at Gottfredson and Vreeland. Today it made appearances at both locations and is drawing birders from all over MI and OH. I'll be out looking for it tomorrow.
