Nest Box Checking - 28 Apr 2020

I walked out back of Brownton Abbey to check nest boxes. The Eastern Bluebirds have been checking out the far left box at the edge of Quinlan Prairie, so I was hoping to find the start of a nest. Nope, the box was inhabited by a field mouse. I took a few pics then sadly evicted it.

The other two bluebird boxes have active Black-capped Chickadee nests.

A Northern Flicker is checking out the owl box.

As I returned to the yard I spotted a coiled up Garter Snake in the morning sunlight.

Finally, a fly by Mourning Dove (just checking out focus-tracking on the a9).
