Nesting Chickadees - 15 May 2020

Today the online community was reporting that the migration floodgates had finally opened. Warblers were being seen along the lakeshore habitats in NW Ohio and SE Michigan. Of course, I went back to work today after 2 weeks of vacation (sans birds). Rain was still falling, but it was warm and the birds were low.

I got home in the afternoon and took a short walk into the woods behind Quinlan Prairie. The field was flooded and feet were wet, but it was nice to be out in warm weather. The birds did not arrive in this area, yet, so things were quiet.

I did find a Cornelian-Cherry Dogwood flowering at the edge of the field and took the opportunity to get some pics.

Black-capped Chickadees are busy nesting in two of the bluebird boxes. Food is now being brought to fresh hatchlings.
