Happy May Day! I walked out the back to the field where a Northern Flicker spent the day in and out of the Screech Owl box and calling its trademark "WICK-WICK-WICK..." song.
From west to east the nest box situation is thus:
Bluebird box - mouse building a nest again - ejected (sorry, mouse). Eastern Bluebird pair arrived a short time later and inspected box several times.

Chickadee box- House Wrens are popping in and out and singing a storm!

We then took a ride out to Lake Erie Metropark. Ouch - talk about crowded. The boat launch at the north end of the park was backed up so far that we parked way down past the rest rooms. But, it wasn't all bad as we did see the following:
