Exceptional Performance - 28 Nov 2020

This morning, in response to yesterday's abysmal performance with the Sony a7RIV and 200-600mm f/5.6-6.3 G OSS lens, I decided to head back out to photograph more gulls. This time I paired the 200-600mm lens + 1.4TC w/ the a9, Sony's flagship camera for sports and wildlife action photography. Results were exceptional!

Of the ~1500 images I took, approximately 95-99% were keepers. Tracking was flawless and the camera had no problem keeping up with the Bonaparte's Gulls foraging 30' out from shoreline. As much as I loved the 1200 mm focal length I could get w/ the Sony a7RIV and 200-600mm + 1.4TC in APS-C mode (29 Mpx) it is awful for birds in flight. So I'll happily settle for 840mm and 24 MPx (10 Mpx in APS-C mode for 1200 mm).

This will be my go-everywhere combo from here on out.
