First Migrants - 28 Apr 2021

Radar exploded last night as birds moved into the area. Finally. Its been a slow migration until now, and any birds that have been moving have been coming into the State from the southwest. Ten warbler spp. were reported at Erie Marsh this morning, so I decided to make a quick stop at Lake Erie Metropark and walk the trail next to the Nature Center.

A Yellow Warbler greeted me as my first warbler of the year. I'd see several Palm Warblers and several Yellow-rumped Warblers, but none that would give any photo opps. I'd settle for a skulking White-throated Sparrow and a frenetic Ruby-crowned Kinglet.

A Wood Thrush flew across the trail and posed long enough for me to get the bins on it. Nice find!
