Pre-CBC Scouting - 15 Dec 2021
With the Monroe, MI Christmas Bird Count just 3 days away today was the first day of "Count Week". Jack Volker had texted that the American White Pelicans were still at Sterling State Park in Monroe County, MI so I was hoping to see them and at least count them as part of the count week tally.
With light rain falling a trip to Sterling State Park yielded no pelicans. A few other birds were seen, though:
400 Hooded Mergansers
200 Ring-billed Gulls
50 Mute Swans
Cooper's Hawk
American Kestrel
6 Northern Shoveler
American Robin
2 American Coot
I'll try again tomorrow.
