Storm Foraging - 04 Feb 2022

This week's snow storm was predicted to drop 12-18" of snow in the Detroit Area. We got 6". It was still enough to cover everything and make it difficult for the birds to find food.

I drove through the Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge to look for foraging flocks of sparrows. I found a dozen American Tree Sparrows next to the road that were oblivious to my presence and trying to glean seeds from last season's wildflower crop. Lighting wasn't great, but I was close enough with the Sony a1 and 200-600mm lens (minus hood) that the images came out nice.
