Eastern Phoebe - 24 Apr 2022

Robin and took a walk at the Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge this evening. The highlight was a pair of Eastern Phoebes that flew down from the trees and settled 2 feet off the ground just 3 feet away! The winds may have had something to do with it.

The first Yellow Warbler of the year appeared, as well. This topped a day that found birders all over SE Michigan and NW Ohio celebrating the floodgates of migration opening.

As we were leaving the trails a Rough-winged Swallow was roosting on the wires. Too bad the lighting was bad.
