Yard Hummers - 23-24 Jun 2022

I've been battling the Racoons this spring trying to keep the hummingbird feeders filled for more than a single day. The trees next to the house and flower baskets are easy pickings after hours. I even tried a window-mounted feeder, but it leaked enough to bring sugar ants into the house.

I've finally found a couple locations along the back hedge line that is high enough to discourage raiding. So, the two pair of Ruby-throated Hummingbirds have been happy and active during a time when things should be quiet in the yard.

I've had to rely on the telephoto lens to capture any images of the male and female. Their perches are in the deep shade, so exposures have been low, as well. Still, who doesn't love seeing these little jewels?
