Warblers at Elizabeth Park - 28 Aug 2023

Warbler activity at Elizabeth Park's center island continues to be productive. Numbers appear to be increasing, as well as variety. This morning I saw my first Northern Parula high up in the canopy beofre this pair of Red-eyed Vireos appeared at eye-level.

Several Chestnut-sided Warblers were seen, but it took a while for them to come down low enough to photograph.

Eastern Wood Pewee.

Blackburnian Warblers continue in good numbers.

Toughest bird of the morning to photograph were these American Redstarts. They are frenetic even for warbler standards!

I always seem to gravitate toward the Chestnut-sided Warblers. They may be more attractive in the fall than they are in the spring.

Magnolia Warbler.

Eastern Wood Pewee.

Tennessee and Bay-breasted Warblers continue in good numbers.

Great-crested Flycatcher teed up atop the tallest tree on the trail. This was a long-distance shot w/ the 600/4 + 1.4TC and crop for an EFL ~ 1260 mm.

It was nice to run into Diane Kovach. We chatted while walking the trails and finding more gems at eye-level. Another American Redstart and Blackburnian Warbler.

Pam was hoping for a Canada Warbler and one obliged. Momentarily...

Least Flycatcher.

Low-flying Nashville Warbler had me hoping for a Connecticut Warbler. No dice.

More Chestnut-sided Warblers.

Another brief Canada Warbler sighting.
