Slow Morning @ Elizabeth Park - 21 Sep 2023
Skies were clear and it was a bit chilly at 58F this morning at Elizabeth Park. The mosquitos didn't mind. Wow, were they angry today...
I ran into Amber Piotter and she reported seeing the Yellow-bellied Flycatcher. We walked back to the northeast corner of the center island and also found the Philadelphia Vireo, as well. A Veery made a couple of appearances, as did several Northern Parula, Black-and-White Warbler, and Black-capped Chickadees.
One of the center trails gave us a single American Redstart. Otherwise we could not find any warbler flocks this morning.
The maintenance yard had 3 Carolina Wrens and 3 House Wrens of two families that squabbled over the same bush. Unfortunately, none of the wrens showed themselves between mosquito bites. I did catch a Magnolia Warbler investigating the squabble.
I would walk the trails a second time and not find any birds, so I headed home.
