Crosswinds Sharpie - 19 Feb 2024

I drove to Crosswinds Marsh to look for a Northern Shrike this morning. Temps were hovering around 20F and skies were clear with no winds when I drove down Clark Road at 8:30 am. The shrike would not show but I did find a roosting Sharp-shinned Hawk (adult) perched in the trees just south of Ash Rd. Lighting was poor and convection currents were an issue shooting from the car (despite no lens hood).

A pair of Red-tailed Hawks were the only other highlight. Red-winged Blackbirds were starting to tee up on tree tops, though.
