Eurasian Wigeon dip - 26 Feb 2024
I drove back to Pt. Mouillee this morning to look for a Eurasian Wigeon that Justin Labadie found in the Humphries Unit yesterday. Though there were hundreds of ducks in the unit I could not relocate the orange-headed beast among dozens of Gadwall and American Wigeon.
The Vermet continued to host thousands of Canvasback, Lesser/Greater Scaup, Redhead, Mallard and other ducks. The American White Pelicans were largely absent; only a dozen or so were "seen".
I would settle for a large flock of Northern Pintail (110) and a few flight shots of distant duck flocks and swans. Fifteen Green-winged Teal in the Bad Creek Unit and Mouillee Creek were a nice consolation, as well.
