Cool and Blustery at the Arb - 16 Oct 2024

After dropping Robin at the Ann Arbor Art Center I drove to Geddes and Riverview Ct. to bird the Nichol's Arboretum. Skies were clear but it was windy and cool (45F) this morning. Birds were much quieter than last week, but it was still a nice walk.

I walked the Dow Prairie and checked the treeline along the railroad tracks. Note: Amtrak uses these tracks and the trains come FAST and QUIET so don't dally on the tracks...

I found a couple small flocks of White-throated Sparrows.

The trail ahead of me held a small flock of several Song Sparrows,

and a late Chipping Sparrow!

My first White-crowned Sparrow of the fall was foraging on berries.

The Huron River trail was quiet. I did find a pair of American Goldfinch foraging in the wildflowers growing along the road.
