Disney Wonder Embarkation Day - 24 Feb 2025
The morning plan was to have breakfast and chill at the Hotel until about 11-12 pm. We decided that today would be our first attempt at hailing an Uber drive to the Honolulu Pier 11 where the Disney Wonder was docked.
After breakfast I packed, and took a few minutes to look for White Terns and other birds from our balcony on the 3rd floor. Skies were clear this morning and it was humid and warm. Very nice! Although a few White Terns were seen they were flying high over the skyscrapers and up the street out of view. I turned the camera on a Zebra Dove nearby, a fly-over pair of Common Myna, and a Red-vented Bulbul in a nearby tree.
At about 11:30 am Robin opened the Uber App, requested a car, and immediately had one 8 minutes away. We had to dodge the Wichita State baseball team that was loading into 4 vans on the already-crowded street in front of the hotel, but managed to find our Uber driver pulling up. The trip to the pier took about 11 minutes and we were soon among hundreds of people and even more bags waiting to get onto the ship.
We put our luggage through screening and got in line for the 1 pm embarkation. First in line! Next thing we knew we were checking in, getting our Disney Bands programmed, and boarding! By 2 pm we’d have had a bite to eat on Deck 9 Cabana’s, and were in our Cabin 7052. We’d have time to freshen up, relax, and wait for our 3:45 pm Sinking Practice.
Dinner at 5:45 at Animator’s Palace put us at Table 34 with Bob and Leslie (Mn) and Lou and Lois (Ct). We’d be pulling out to sea at 7 pm and heading to Maui where we’d spend the next two days in port.
