No Arctic Tern - 16 Jun 2025
It was Monday morning and time to get out for a bike ride. I drove down Haggerman Rd. to check out the Antenna Farm. Finally, I was able to hear a Dickcissel singing from inside the fence line. A couple Bobolink, as well.

I then drove down Roberts Road to the parking lot next to the South Causeway. I was trying out a new mini-camera that I wanted to clip to my vest, but had to put it on my hat becuase of the 600/4 lens blocking it while I rode the bike. Unfortunately, the camera was angled up so the whole bike ride out to Cell 3 and back was a video of the sky...
I was interested to look for the Arctic Tern in Cell 3 even though it hadn't been reported in over a day. This morning was no exception; only Caspian, Forster's and Common Terns were present, as well as a small flock of Bonaparte's Gulls.
Shorebird were mostly gone, but there was a pair of Dunlin among 3 Semipalmated Sandpipers
and a single White-rumped Sandpiper.
There was also a bathing Spotted Sandpiper.
I scoped the tern colony several times but came up only with Forster's and Common Terns.
A Northern Shoveler is a good duck this time of summer. I also spotted a Lesser Yellowlegs.
With the Arctic Tern not showing I took a few more pics of the White-rumped Sandpiper and then headed back to the car.
