More Snipe - 25 Sep 2025
With overcast skies and high humidity this morning I had little luck photographing birds. It was ok.
Elizabeth Park was slow. A loop of the middle island woods yielded only a few heard-only birds. So I didn't stay.

I drove over to the Marina at Lake Erie Metropark and scoped the marsh just north of the parking lot. Shorebird activity was good: dozens of Lesser Yellowlegs, Pectoral Sandpipers and Wilson's Snipe. Unfortunately, they were too far away under dark conditions for any meaningful photography. I had to settle for the nearby Wood Ducks and Blue-winged Teal.
I then drove over to the Marshland Museum and walked the trails. They too were slow; a couple of Red-eyed Vireos, Swainson's Thrush, a possible Veery (couldn't confirm), and Northern House Wren. Otherwise, very quiet.
