Water-Drip for Warblers - 08 Sep 2025
This morning I decided to take a 5-gallon jug of water to Elizabeth Park to create a water drip for warblers. I had a small water pond that was light enough to carry so I set them up in the dry creek bed along the main trail. I left it for a couple hours but didn't actually get any visitors directly to it.
Near the maintenance yard I did see a small flock of warblers. This Canada Warbler was the highlight,
but I also had Chestnut-sided Warbler, Bay-breasted Warbler, Nashville, Cape May, Blackburnian and Magnolia Warblers.
Closer to the main trail a few more warblers appeared, including this nice male Black-throated Blue Warbler.
"Near" the water drip I finally did get a flock of warblers move through, including a pair of Tennessee Warblers and several Bay-breasted Warblers.
Black-throated Blue Warbler.
Great-crested Flycatcher.
White-breasted Nuthatches were abundant this morning, so it was equally nice to see (and hear) a pair of Red-breasted Nuthatches.
Once again a Yellow-bellied Flycatcher made a momentary appearance but refused to give me a profile.
Magnolia Warbler.
More Bay-breasted Warblers.
This Black-throated Blue Warbler finally came low enough for a few nice portraits before disappearing into the brush.
I emptied the contents of the jug into the little pond and left it in the creek bed hoping it would get some (thirsty) visitors, then headed back to the car and home.
