TC Snowy Owl redux - 05 Feb 2026

Robin and I drove to Traverse City this morning. 3-6" snow was forecasted for the area but we only saw a mini-blizzard on I-75 as we drove toward Kalkaska. Curiously, the snow was heavier south of the M-72 corridor that normally gets all of the snow.

We arrived in TC at 11 am and had lunch at Poppycocks downtown. Still too early to check in we decided to make a quick drive to Chum's Corner to look for Snowy Owls. We drove to the ballpark and managed to find a juvenile Snowy Owl sitting atop one of the light towers.

We drove around the area but failed to find any others (3 have been reported).
