No Swainson's Hawk This Morning - 13 Apr 2026

The Swainson's Hawk found by Andrew, Linda and Vikki two days ago was seen all day yesterday. This morning I made several loops around the Roberts Road, Rheaume Road and US-Turnpike Road access points to the Rockwood Landfill but did NOT see any sign of the hawk. I suspect that the STRONG West winds overnite may have moved the bird onward to a new destination. Several others were also looking w/o luck... My consolation was a Red-tailed Hawk over the quarry.

I did park at Rheaume Road and Roberts Road and walked Roberts Road south to the road closure. Turns out the road was closed due to a large sink hole caused by collapse of the culvert pipe channelling water from the creek on either side of Roberts Road. No idea when repair/replacement will be made. 

In the meantime I continued south to the entrance to the dike that parallels Roberts Road and walked back north to the parking lot access point. Highlights were an Eastern Towhee and a Yellow-bellied Sapsucker.
