Dark, Rainy Morning - 30 Aug 2026

A walk around Elizabeth Park was quiet, dark and rainy. Temperature was pushing 70ºF and the air was still. Little movement in the trees and less on the ground. I picked up a few White Oak acorns to plant in the yard, otherwise it was a quiet walk in the rain.

I did stumble upon a small group of warblers high in the canopy, but they appeared as dark silhouettes among the light sky and dark leaves. I'd make out (post-processing) Magnolia Warbler, Blackburnian Warbler, Blue-gray Gnatcatcher, and Chestnut-sided Warbler. Only this Eastern Wood-Pewee was low enough to photograph.
